So Predictable Mr. Sparks

Hello Dear Followers,

I’ve finished “The Best of Me” by Nicholas Sparks late last night.  I have a few thoughts to share about the book.

I thought the book was good, true Nicholas Sparks fashion, nothing extraordinary, but always good. It was the first time however, that the book didn’t leave a craving for more.  I am not sure why that was, but it just didn’t.

I thought in the beginning the love story between the two main characters was a bit rushed which didn’t allow for a true connection for me. I felt their love but I didn’t feel their love. I wanted their circumstance to end differently than it did. However, I can see why it ended the way it did for the character of Dawson.

Since I didn’t feel a true connection between Dawson and Amanda, I found myself angry at Dawson’s decision to not live his life during the years Amanda wasn’t there. I felt like what a waste, but at the same time I understood why he chose the path he did in life.

Overall, I thought the book was good and I do recommend it to those who have never experience Mr. Sparks and all his greatness. Let me know what you think!

Until next time..

Not a Fan of the name Dawson

Hello Dear Followers,

I am a little over 60 pages into “The Best of Me” and already I have been given the entire first part of the love story between Dawson (this name reminds me so much of Dawson Leery, played by James Van Der Beek from Dawson’s Creek) and Amanda. I felt Mr. Sparks as wonderful as he is, rushed the beginning a bit in the race to get to present day Dawson and Amanda.

Not a fan of the name Dawson, maybe that’s why I always loved Pacey Witter (Dawson’s Creek again), (totally trailing off topic here).

I wanted more of their past love story with an ease into their current love story. I don’t feel like that happened. I feel like if this is rushed, how quick would the movie go? Should a movie ever be made.

I felt their love and then I didn’t. I didn’t feel the usual connection I feel with Mr. Sparks’ novels. Oh my God! Could I be moving on to bigger and better reads? I am not entirely sure about that yet, everyone needs a little Nicholas Sparks in their life.

The language so far is typical, its stuff that dreams are made out of even, I don’t believe any two people’s love story is that romantic.  I may be prejudging the book too soon and I’m surprised because usually a standing ovation would have come already from me.

Oh well we’ll see.

Until next time…
